Exodus 13:1 to
God of the pillars –
the cloud by day, the fire by night; You are the
Almighty. You share this throne with no
other. Your eyes do not leave Your children nor their enemies. You do not lead us around the Red Sea, You lead us right to it. But the only thing that touches us is what You allow to touch us.
We have a wall of death on either side and an army of death at our heels,
but always just ahead is the glory of the Lord.
It is easy to miss, Father, if we are not careful - Your great love for
the Egyptians as well as the Israelites.
You delivered them ultimately from the evil monarch and according to You
Word, You did it in a glorious fashion so that the
Egyptians could see Your glory. It is
also easy to forget that there were many Egyptians among the Israelites. God already is saving the whole world through
His chosen people, but their eternal salvation awaits the passing of
centuries. Praise our Lord. Amen.
